• A couple of weeks ago you sent information about the ‘Treasure Box’. Where you order $30 worth of food at the beginning of the month and about 2 weeks later on a Saturday morning you pick up abut $120 worth of frozen food. Well I tried it out and it is amazing! I was busy, so I sent my husband to pick it up. He said it was very slick, he drove up, showed them his receipt and they put a big box in his trunk and he drove away! It is so great that we are going to order 2 this month. 1 box will easily feed a family for a week, but since we only have our kids on the weekends, 2 should be plenty for the month. We only have to fill in with bread, milk and fresh produce (see below for my fresh produce bargains).

It is all very good
It is normal stuff we eat, (except the really big apple pie! It was way above normal!)

on 19th street in Costa Mesa has the best produce prices in town! Yeah, I know, everyone loves Henry’s, but they just have a couple of things on sale to get you in there and the rest is fairly over priced. But at El Metate their prices are always low and when they have a sale you feel like you are stealing the stuff. Last week I bought, 3 kinds of lettuce, celery, cabbage, carrots, green onions, brown onions, bananas, a pineapple and a couple of potatoes all for under $8.00. They had watermelon on sale a couple of weeks ago, a really big one (almost 10 lbs) cost me $1.79, not per pound, for the entire thing!
So, combine the savings of the Treasure Box, with the great deals at El Metate we are reducing our food bill by 2/3rds!
