What is a good deal?

I have heard this question many times! In our grocery ads I try to point out what I think is a good deal by putting an * next to the item. Well, here is a general guide to use while shopping. Anything that is advertised at the lower price or less is a great deal, so stock up at the low price. The higher “to” price is still an OK deal, buy only what you need. Otherwise wait.

Meat
Whole chicken Up to $.89/lb(or less great deal) to $1.29/lb(OK deal)
Pork chops $1.50/lb to $2.00/lb
Ground turkey $2.50/lb to $3.00/lb
Ground beef $1.00/lb to $3.00/lb
Chicken breast $1.50/lb to $2.00/lb

Dairy
Milk (organic) $5.50/gal to $6.00/gal
Milk (regular) $2/gal to $2.50/gal
Eggs $1.50/doz to $2.00/doz
Yogurt (32 oz) $2.50 to $3.50lb
Butter (4 sticks) $2.00 to $2.50

Staples
Flour (5lb) $2.50 to $3.00
Sugar $.50/lb to $.75/lb
Brown sugar (16 oz) $.89 to $1.19
Cereal $1.50/box to $2.00/box
Bread $2.00 to $2.50
Pasta $.99/lb to $1.19/lb

Vegetables/Fruit
Carrots $.59/lb to $.79/lb
Potatoes (5 lb) $2.50 to $3.50
Green peppers $.89/lb or $.50 each to $1.19/lb or $1 each
Broccoli $1.00/bunch to $1.49/bunch
Onions $.39/lb to $.79/lb
Garlic $.50/head to $.75/head
